Fresh from Major Nelson’s feed, I have learned there is a free track from Rock Band today. I have provided a link below.

I haven’t listened to the song, so I cannot personally attest to the quality of the track. However, it is free, so no harm for trying it out, right?

Rock Band DLC – Week of 10/21/08 – Nirvana Edition October 17, 2008

Here’s the Rock Band DLC for this week. It’s a been a while coming, but next week we’ll see 7 Nirvana tracks! More importantly, it’s from their Nevermind offering. Sadly, “Come As You Are” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” aren’t being made available. We’ll have to manage with these 7 master tracks.

The full Nirvana 7 Pack will be priced $10.99 (880 Microsoft Points) or $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) per track.

I, for one, am looking forward to “Polly” and “On A Plain”. These promise to be good times.

Here is yet another fantastic song for Rock Band. Again, The Mother Hips have graced my 360 with audio goodness. It is well worth the 160 MS Points to pick up this song.

After the jump, listen to the embedded song.

Microsoft is running an “Extended Play Download Days” promotion between now and the end of October. This includes downloads for various games, including: Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Guitar Hero 3. The obvious gems are the Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion and the track packs for Guitar Hero 3.

Beautiful Katamari also makes this list with 8 discounted items; bring the DLC from ludicrously expensive to just overly expensive. But if you have been on the fence for these items, this is your time to jump in.

I haven’t been keeping up with the Rock Band DLC much lately. Life has been kinda hectic with the new baby and all. However, I was just turned on to a song that has been out for Rock band for a while now: “Red Tandy” by The Mother Hips.

I’d never heard of the band before, much less this song, until a few minutes ago. Check it out:

I believe it is well worth the 160 MS Points for this song. It has great parts for every instrument and vocals.

Harmonix explains how Rock Band 2 connects with Rock Band 1 August 21, 2008

I love Rock Band and have been thrilled about the impending release of Rock Band 2. Of course, my (and many others, I’m certain) main concern dealt with all the DLC songs I’ve purchased for Rock Band. Will they transfer over to Rock Band 2, or will i have to continue playing Rock Band 1 to get my Grateful Dead fix?

Thankfully, Harmonix assuaged my fears and confirmed that all RB1 DLC will work in RB2 with no problems. They didn’t stop there… they went one step further and confirmed that, at least XBOX 360, owners of RB1 can transfer their “on-disc” tracks to RB2. How is that you say??? Read on!

MTV Multiplayer » Harmonix: How ‘Rock Band 2? Lets You Access First Game’s Songs

Well, it’s going to cost any gamer who wants to transport their “RB” 1 songs to “RB2? a little money and it will require two discs — just once. Harmonix PR man John Drake broke it down for me on Tuesday:

Drake said that on the day “Rock Band 2? is released — September 14 for the Xbox 360 version — a patch will be issued for the original game. That title update will add an Export feature to the original “Rock Band” game’s menu. Gamers who select that feature will be prompted to input a password, which will be included with copies of “Rock Band 2.” Then you have to pay.

SingStar DLC – Week of May 30th, 2008 May 30, 2008

The SingStore has been updated this week with a slew of new songs for your singing pleasure. There are updates on boths sides of the pond, but I’ve only listed those titles which are available here in the States. We are treated to fewer songs than our European gamers, which is a bit disappointing. Hopefully, the additional songs will make the jump across the pond soon.

Until then, enjoy the new batch!
