Limbo – Alone in the Dark Achievement July 23, 2010
Posted by xerocube in : Arcade, Misc., XBOX 360 , add a commentMany of the achievements in Limbo can be found through sheer exploration of the game’s environment. Most requiring a keen and observant eye. However, the Alone in the Dark achievement was a bit further off the beaten path.
This achievement “egg” is located at the very end of Chapter 14, right before climbing the long ladder leading to the Giant Fly. (A shortcut to this would be to restart at Chapter 15 and backtrack down the ladder.) At the base of the ladder, run right into the darkness. Run until you hear that you’re stepping in water (this is about a 10 Mississippi count from the ladder) and then jump right as high and far as you can. If you have landed safely, continue running right until you see the shining “egg”. Step on it and you’ve earned the Alone in the Dark achievement.
To get back to the game, just run left until you get back to the ladder.

Shadow Complex Achievements July 21, 2009
Posted by xerocube in : Action, Adventure, Arcade, XBOX 360 , add a commentShadow Complex, due August 19, 2009, looks to be a fantastic XBLA game, paying homage to the great Metroid and Castlevania game of days past. The achievements for this game have just been announced and one I find interesting is the “Minimalist” achievement. I am used to seeing rewards for finding everything in a game, but rarely do I see a game reward the player for completing a game with the bare minimum of items contained in a game.
Shadow Complex Achievements arrive with a handful of screens, new trailer
- LET’S GET PUNCHY: Melee 5 soldiers (15)
- BOMBA PUNTER: Punt 20 Bombas (20)
- MY HEAD A-SPLODE: Get 50 head shots (20)
- MAKE ‘EM SCREAM: Get 100 soldiers to scream (20)
- TO KILL A BLACKBIRD: Destroy the helicopter attacking the Vice President (15)
- LOOK OUT!: Kill a soldier with a Bomba (5)
- WALKIN’ ON WATER: Make it from one end of lake to the other in hyper-speed (5)
- HERO: Complete the game on any difficulty setting (50)
- COMPLETIONIST: Complete the game with 100% of the items (20)
- MINIMALIST: Complete the game with less than 13% of the items (10)
- PROVEN GROUNDS: Complete the Proving Grounds (10)
- SERIOUS COMPLEX: Level-up to experience level 50 (10)
PAIN DLC – Delayed to Sept. 11, 2008 September 5, 2008
Posted by xerocube in : Arcade, News, Playstation 3 , add a commentThe new expansion level for PAIN was due out on Sept 4th, 2008. Fortunately, it has been delayed. Yes, I said “FORTUNATELY”! It seems the trophies that were originally included were deemed to difficult by the play testers. So, the developers went back and eased off the gas a little.
Joystiq has the details and the list of included trophies. Read on!
Pain DLC delayed a week, trophies toned down – Joystiq
First, the bad news: the downloadable “Uncle Jimmy’s Fun Park” level, originally planned for release tomorrow, has been delayed, and is currently targeted for release on the ominous date of Sept. 11.Why was it delayed? Well that’s the good news: the development team has been spending its time scaling back the difficulty of the somewhat ridiculous trophies it announced last month. Seems testers didn’t have too much fun grinding their way through the “one billion points” trophy, among others. The new trophy list, which is copied below the break, is also set to be downloadable on Sept. 11
This about sums it up… [Geometry Wars 2] August 19, 2008
Posted by Archbishop Xero in : Arcade, XBOX 360 , add a commentGeometry Wars 2 has been the best 800 magical mystery points I have spent on XBL in quite some time. It’s a fantastic game that has consumed many hours of my life. Unfortunately, it’s usually in the most frustrating way. It’s difficult not to throw the controller through the tv in a fit of rage.
It’s comforting to know that I am not alone, but I must appluad this gentleman here for venting in such a unique way.
WiiWare: Lost Winds May 16, 2008
Posted by xerocube in : Arcade, Review, Wii , add a commentLet me start by saying I have not tried Lost Winds yet. I had little intention on trying it either. That is, until I read this writeup on Gamasutra.com. From there, I linked across to MetaCritic to see what they had compiled (an impressive 84 out of 100).
My initial impressions of WiiWare was that it was attempting to cash in on the success of the Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network games. In conjunction with my general apathetic view towards most Wii titles, I figured I could just pass this one up.
However, the opening line of Gamasutra’s write-up has changed my mind.
…a $10 WiiWare launch title from UK developer Frontier (Thrillville) that critics describe as “better than a lot of $49.99 Wii games.”
I encourage you to jump over and read the rest of the article. This could be the start of a very good thing for the Wii.
Boom Boom Rocket DLC – Free until Dec 16th, 2007 November 29, 2007
Posted by xerocube in : Arcade, XBOX 360 , add a commentFor those fans of Boom Boom Rocket, which I am unashamed to admit that I am one of, there is good and better news for you today. EA has set loose an update to the game which include five new songs (DLC) and, my favorite part, support for additional controller peripherals. Those peripherals? Guitars, dance mats, and (rumored) Rock Band’s drum kit. This sounds like it could give this franchise a boost, in my opinion.

Geon Emotions: Impressions September 20, 2007
Posted by xerocube in : Arcade, Game Night, Review, XBOX 360 , add a commentDuring the Wednesday Game Night last night, whiteh0wler and I were playing through some of the many Xbox Live Arcade games. We downloaded and tried Geon Emotions. I was hopeful for a fun multiplayer gaming experience with great gameplay and music. He was significantly less thrilled about playing the game. So we played the game while discussing it’s pros and cons over pizza.
