Did you play Prince of Persia for the XBOX 360? Did you have a good time with all the acrobatic goodness the game allowed? Do you want to know what happened AFTER you were forced to make a huge mistake in the game’s final moments? If you answered “Yes” to the above, then you’ll probably be interested in hearing that the DLC “Epilogue” for Prince of Persia has been discounted on the XBOX Live Marketplace.

The content retails for 800 Microsoft Points, but is available for 560 MS Points through October 10, 2009.

Shadow Complex Achievements July 21, 2009

Shadow Complex, due August 19, 2009, looks to be a fantastic XBLA game, paying homage to the great Metroid and Castlevania game of days past. The achievements for this game have just been announced and one I find interesting is the “Minimalist” achievement. I am used to seeing rewards for finding everything in a game, but rarely do I see a game reward the player for completing a game with the bare minimum of items contained in a game.

Shadow Complex Achievements arrive with a handful of screens, new trailer

  • LET’S GET PUNCHY: Melee 5 soldiers (15)
  • BOMBA PUNTER: Punt 20 Bombas (20)
  • MY HEAD A-SPLODE: Get 50 head shots (20)
  • MAKE ‘EM SCREAM: Get 100 soldiers to scream (20)
  • TO KILL A BLACKBIRD: Destroy the helicopter attacking the Vice President (15)
  • LOOK OUT!: Kill a soldier with a Bomba (5)
  • WALKIN’ ON WATER: Make it from one end of lake to the other in hyper-speed (5)
  • HERO: Complete the game on any difficulty setting (50)
  • COMPLETIONIST: Complete the game with 100% of the items (20)
  • MINIMALIST: Complete the game with less than 13% of the items (10)
  • PROVEN GROUNDS: Complete the Proving Grounds (10)
  • SERIOUS COMPLEX: Level-up to experience level 50 (10)

Dead Rising 2 information (via Kotaku) April 28, 2009

Apparently, I am hungering for more Dead Rising 2 information. Here is a snippet from Kotaku’s impressions of the game.

Kotaku – Dead Rising 2: 7,000 Zombies and Plenty of Chainsaws – dead rising 2

The original Dead Rising may have been a technological breakthrough, a wonder of body count and open-world exploration, but what really sold it for me, and for many, was the game’s heart.

It had personality, most of it packed into gruff photojournalist lead Frank West. So when the curtain was raised on Dead Rising 2 last week, I was hoping for a glimpse at the game’s soul. What we got instead was a detailed run through of its engine.

Dead Rising 2 wasn’t built on the shambling corpse of Dead Rising, instead Canadian developers Blue Castle started from scratch creating a new engine written specifically for the new game.

“What we are showing you today is something completely new,” said Dan Brady, CEO of Blue Castle Games. “It is not based on the engine used in Dead Rising one, this is a completely unique and original engine written specifically for Dead Rising 2.”

This article talks more about the technology of the game, so don’t expect much about the plot. But it is still an interesting read.

I loved Dead Rising. I thought it was a fantastic game, great story, fun gameplay, and, most of all, good zombie killing times. And now, the sequel. I had my doubts, but it this trailer can be believed — I think I have found my first must have game of the year. Check it out!

Fallout 3 Release Date August 21, 2008

Great news from Bethesda! They’ve announced the release date for Fallout 3. I have always been a huge fan of the Fallout IP and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new installment. From the press release:

Bethesda Softworks

Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax Media company, announced today that its highly anticipated title, Fallout® 3, will be available on store shelves and online in North America on October 28, 2008 and in Europe on October 31, 2008.

More information comes from Amazon.com in terms of pricing and editions. There will be three editions to the game: Standard, Collector’s, and, the Amazon.com exclusive, Survival editions for the XBOX 360, PS3, and the PC. I can’t tell you which to get, though I know the 360 and PC versions has been confirmed to get DLC expansions later on. I can only guess that it will be available for the PS3 some months later.

[XBOX360] Lego Indiana Jones June 25, 2008

I have just completed my run through Lego Indiana Jones for the 360. I admit that I love the Lego series of games. The interpretations that they gave the Star Wars series was fantastic, so my expectations were high for the Indiana Jones treatment.

What I got in Indiana Jones was another solid entry for the Lego series. The cut-scene humor was exactly what I was expecting and was quite amusing. The gameplay was very much similar to the other Star Wars games (break stuff, collect studs, find secrets, and beat bosses).

My compliants are minimal. They deliberately strayed somewhat from the movies in the more graphic of details (no faces were melted or hearts ripped out during the game); however, there were frequent (though funny) decapitations. Curious. And no mention of the Nazis, though the blonde-haired, blue-eyed grunts were a dead giveaway.I will say that some of the levels ran a little longer than what I would have liked – sometimes taking as long as an hour to complete a single stage.

During my run through the game, I ran across the normal camera issues that have been commonplace in the Lego series. I found several of the boss fights to be extremely difficult to figure out without having to reference an online game guide. The Mola Ram battle glitched a few times be never sending me thuggies with swords… talk about frustrating. Finally, where was the online co-operative play?

All in all, I enjoyed this game. It didn’t deliver anything particularly innovative in advancing the Lego series, but it did provide a lot of fun gameplay, especially with the local co-op mode. I’d recommend playing this game, but make sure you have someone to enjoy the game with, as the multiplayer where I had the most fun.

Wii Review: Ninjabread Man October 10, 2007

Candy Land is under attack by evil cakes, bees, and jellied monsters. This sounds like a job for Ninjabread Man! So goes the premise of the action platformer for the Wii.

The concept of the game, a gingerbread man with mad ninja skills, hooked me from the advertising. The game title alone warranted a rental. Sadly, in the 20 minutes I devoted to playing, this game has not lived up to my expectations. (more…)
